We document one day in a Chicago diner called the Golden Apple, starting at 5 a.m. and going until 5 a.m. the next morning. We hear from the waitress who has worked the graveyard shift for over two decades, the regular customers who come every day, the couples working out their problems, assorted drunks, and, of course, cops.

This and other stories of people scrambling to get their footing on some challenging terrain.

Thank you thank you thank you for turning out a very enjoyable non-political episode that managed to avoid any reference to Trump, immigration, gender, race, or climate. It was a breath of fresh air!

Just because there are more papers published on vertebrates doesn't mean that it is easier to get a vertebrate paper published than an invertebrate paper. Vertebrates are studied more, so there will be more papers published. What was identified is a bias in what is studied, not what is published. To determine if there is a bias in what is published, it would require data on how many of each type of paper is submitted for publishing compared to how many are published. I understand that it was mentioned that he didn't have access to that data, but perhaps he could get data regarding how many scientists are studying each type of species.

what a horrible story, glorifying this guy and what he did. sure he was addicted but I feel the reporter, since he was a friend of hers, treated it so lightly. he is scum and says he hasn't gambled or stolen since. bull. why would be believe him now? I don't.
