Description

Manuel Gomez is a detective straight out of a detective novel. He carries a pen that’s really a knife, wears a watch that’s really a camera, adores Sherlock Holmes and Miami Vice. But the cases Gomez takes on are all too real: cases of young men in New York City who say they’ve been arrested for crimes they didn’t commit. In the first season of Conviction, reporter Saki Knafo follows Gomez as he tackles the biggest case of his career—and along the way, Saki explores big questions about criminal justice in America. This story is the first in Gimlet Media’s Conviction series, which will feature a new piece of investigative reporting each season.

This show includes strong language and descriptions of violence, and may not be appropriate for sensitive listeners.

both links part 1 and part 2 are about the shady ass Bronx cops who stole the lives of so many black and brown people by making false claims of crimes that weren't committed by these people. David Terrell was a terrorist in the Bronx 42nd precinct.

I don't understand the whole bail thing. I think it can be quite apparent whether someone will be able to afford the bail set, and it's also quite apparent if a judge sets bail ridiculously high that they're doing it as a way to keep someone locked up behind bars for an indefinite time period. Talk about using class as a way to further punish the poor. I understand not wanting to release violent offenders with proven track record but surely that's done by not setting bail. Bail is suppose to be a way to almost bribe people to come to court but it's pretty intense the number of people sitting in jail waiting for court because they can't afford to pay the bail. These are people assumed to be innocent, sitting in jail almost like they've already been found guilty. What a shit system.

Nu Torres well I think there's 2 sides. there's the racist side that wants race to go away because they don't think there's an issue but they are ignorant. Then there are people that want to help end racism but sometimes they can complicate the situation. I'll stand with the people trying to end racism always since at least they have ethics. It's a hard issue to fix and really the only fix is time. We still have living people that went through lynching and people that lynched so those wounds will never hear. I hoped in 100 years we'll be good

Rick Wagner I also wish we could...Unfortunately we live in a world that enjoys separating us by our differences.

This cop pisses me off so much. My son is a cop and this piece of shit makes his job harder everyday, because his criminal behavior makes them all look bad. He needs to go to prison.
