Description

Robert Greene (@RobertGreene) is the author of five New York Times Best Sellers. His highly anticipated sixth book, The Laws of Human Nature, is out now.

What We Discuss with Robert Greene:

  • Why you can't monumentally improve your life by modifying your behavior if you don't understand what causes such behavior.

  • Why it's liberating to understand that the reason other people react to you in whatever way they do has more to do with them and their own baggage than you and yours.

  • How oversimplifying the impression you have of someone robs you of the ability to relate to them beyond a surface level -- and what you can do to change the game.

  • Why your lower nature seems to be the default you'll fall into without effort and what it takes to tap into the potential of your higher nature.

  • The difference between active and passive envy, where envy comes from, why it's so often destructive, and how you can flip envy to your benefit.

  • And much more...

Great Podcast but I don't agree with his premise on the fact that humans have a baseline of part evil. I believe we have baseline of Good but have been influenced by negative thoughts whether it's from us or others

Dare Ademola So I am a progressive Christian (quite different than the evangelicals that are on the news) and I struggle with this idea myself. The Bible says that because of the sins of Adam and Eve we are all born with a sinful nature. In a way I believe that but what I absolutely don't believe is that God only loves us if we follow a, b, and c; and disapprove of x, y, and z. I believe that God is the name I choose to use but Allah and Yahweh, etc are just as valid. I do think that the majority of world religions believe in a premise of evil or sinful nature.

Dare Ademola Why do you believe this?

There must be spies in the phone, because castbox recommended this to me at a very interesting point and my life. I'm currently struggling with a bully. I have been told by friends, my relationship partner, and my therapist that this bully is envious of me. whether they are envious or not, I have no idea. I am a very sensitive individual, so I'm currently looking at research and how to better look at outside stimuli so I don't throw myself into an emotional tailspin. Super pumped to read this book and so glad this was suggested. Thank you so much! great podcast

Lori Brooks EXACTLY! Not only does this person create it, they feed off of it. While it sucks those people are in our lives, I feel grateful that I'm not alone 🤗

VickyB Right? I felt exactly the same way Vicky. I have been struggling with trying to reconcile with an old friend and this podcast was suggested randomly. The thing is that I don't need to reconcile because she is toxic and draws drama to her life. I have quite enough drama and I don't need to be associating with someone who NEEDS the drama and toxicity.

Wow, this is a great episode. While he is talking about people who are always talking about the abuse of partner after partner and toxic people it just jumped out at me. Recently I was spending time with a person who used to be my best friend. I kind of knew why I had fallen away from the friendship but until I was spending time with her again I had forgotten how toxic the relationship had been. While I was there I heard those same patterns of her talking about every relationship that she has ever been in as abusive, emotionally, physically, verbally and in most cases she talks about sexual abuse with those people. I don't know if she actually has been abused all of these times or if she is simply toxic and needs to talk down about everyone. I really just had to get away from her toxic drama.

Lori Brooks Hey Lori! welcome to the show. It’s me (I have a team but I don’t believe in having them pretend to be me because it’s weird and dishonest somehow). You can go in any order with the shows. I really hope you enjoy some of the other interviews and share with friends. Hit us anytime!

Robert Greene is a great speaker. His content was entirely worth listening to. As for the host on the other hand, not so much.

Miss Joy That’s not how talk show interviews work. They’re delivered in a conversational way which includes commentary from the host. I’ve known Robert for years. That’s why the interview seemed to flow as it did. Also, the ads pay for the show production. My entire crew flew to Los Angeles and filmed this in Robert’s home. We also pay for the hosting that allows people like you to listen for free. It’s also a full-time job for everyone involved. If you’d like a book summary and nothing more, feel free to purchase one, as those aren’t produced or given away for free either. Thanks for listening!
