Stephan: "I'd like to open the show by simply stating my argument. My statement consists of 27 parts and will chew up roughly the first 53 minutes of the podcast. I will pepper it with directives for the listeners to give my website multiple hits. At no point will I acknowledge that my position actually IS an interpretation of the science, rather than the lone possible conclusion. Also, the only studies that are credible are those that agree with me. If Gary brings up any studies during the roughly 14 minutes he will be allowed to speak over the course of the next 3 hours, you know they're unreliable bc they disagree with mine. (ahem!) Now. In order to understand what carbs do to the body, our story must begin 200,000 ago when early hominids plucked the first potato from the soil ..."

I'm glad they were able to correct Gary when he interrupted. I'd hate for Stephan to get less than 80% of the air time.

Was a good episode. Gary has an interruption problem, Stephan had a sour attitude, but I get that there is history between these two and thus some drama hovering in the background. I only wish I Stephan was let to finish his opening statements and then Gary allowed to do the same. If that would have happened it would have cut a lot of explaining and piecing together by the listener. Was strange at the end that Gary was unable to simply state his stance on fat accumulation when asked.

Stephan's arrogance is primary cause of this failed episode. I understand Gary's frustration in debating this guy. Stephan often goes for a deliberate misrepresentation or condesending dismissal of his opponent. As almost all comments indicate, this makes him come across like a total dick. But I was very surprised that Joe didn't attempt to reign that in. Still a big fan of the podcast even though this one was disappointing.

I liked the fact that Dr. Guyenat cited all of his sources. Personality, yeah, he seems a little prickish but he's just trying to prove why he's right and quite frankly he has solid evidence. You don't have to be nice to be right. I wouldve liked to hear more of Gary's side and really see the evidence and studies backing him up but Gary seemed to kind of dismiss scientific literature. It was unfortunate.

What this podcast did for me: 1. Made me dislike Stephan....he seems like an arrogant dick. 2. Shocked me because Joe seemed biased toward Stephan.....he typically does well being objective. 3. Made me feel bad for Gary. 4. Irritated me mainly because of Stephan. The End oh wait, did I mention Stephan seeks like a dick?

turned it off after 40 mins. All the talk was from Stephen yet all I heard was Joe telling Gary to let Stephen talk.

wow. As a member of the nutrition community/profession and an individual with a higher education, I am so embarrassed how Stephan held himself during this podcast. Both sides were nonsensical. honestly, even if they made sense Stephan made me hurt everytime he spoke and showcased why people dislike people with higher degrees. come on homie, help us all out and brush that chip off your shoulder. you're making all of us look bad when you act like an asshole while talking about obesity and nutrition ( very sensitive subjects)
