but why should I invest so much efforts into maintaining friendships that are not useful to new me at all. They may even be holding me back. Why not change friendship to a one that align with my new life. Is it morally to think this way?

Ammar Salmi I think it's totally acceptable to think that way. if you feel your old friends aren't doing you good, then it's time to leave. don't waste so much energy on those friends. you need people around you that have the same values as you.
