Description

During a blizzard in December 6, 2009 Josh Powell Claims to have taken his two young sons, ages 2 and 4, camping. When he returned home he finds friends and family frantically searching for them. They're all relieved when he and the boys arrive safely. But where is Susan? Josh becomes a prime suspect in her disappearance but when the system fails to prove a case against him and protect his kids he turns on them and kills them in an unimaginably brutal fashion.

Oh MY WORD! Who is training these 911 operators? He needs some re-training, if not criminal charges.

so I wanted to add a few things here, I live in utah and remember when she went missing, this case is actually super close in timing to the disappearance and murder of another woman here in utah by the husband and is brought up in this case! I remember seeing this on the news. our local news station, ksl, has release a podcast series on this case with phone recordings josh and Susan's video, audio and written journals, steve Powell's journals and songs about susan, etc. I also want to add that it has been revealed that they did have food in the home from what's known as the bishops wearhouse, I also wanted to add that in mormon culture (I was raised mormon though I am no longer a member) food storage, spending records and homemade goods, such as knitting your own clothing, blankets and more are a part of the culture and encouraged by the church as responsible actions and family activities, etc. I feel that the abuse in this relationship could have very easily have hidden in this.

Ok. I LOVE the crime junkie podcast and wanted you guys to cover the Powell case forever and then I got to the episode and was so excited to listen. But I think alot of information was not included and was even given incorrectly in some spots and it jumped around alot. I have been obsessed with this case for YEARS. I used to live in their circle (Saris Circle) and worked at the same place as Susan. So, I have been obsessed over the case. Maybe you could do a follow up episode to clear more up for the listeners that havent followed it as close?

DGutierrez Please PLEASE listen to the KSL Podcast Cold. It's a good place to start and goes in depth and puts things in order. This case is INSANE and I would LOVE for you guys to do a follow up to clear things up from this episode and include the remaining information to really tie the case together.
