I agree that a real faith in a loving higher power. I am clinically depressed. I have received inpatient and outpatient help. I have had numerous episodes suicidal idealism. The only thing to help has ben a deep and abiding faith. Knowing there is a loving and caring higher power, for me it is GOD. Spiritually has been the only thing that has kept me alive. But I understand the desire to want to be dead. Love and attention from friends and family helps. But go is the answer. I have had depressed for more than 40 years. Those who have been depressed severly like myself, most have made it past suicide through faith in a higher power. This will not be popular, especially those who only see the violence committed in the past and present due to religion. That violence is a result of corrupt people. Our society needs GOD. allah is not a God. All true GODS emphasize love and inclusiveness. Islam is not a religion, it is a political organization. All belief systems that encourages choice, education, personal relationship, and tolerance. Faith in a loving higher authority reduces suicide. All other arguments fail. There are no psychological drugs that cure nor solve depression. The solution is one that is multipronged, faith, therapy, and meds along with a familial support system.

Religion isn't the answer tho, it's been tried, it wrecked the world, not helped it. for being so anti-government intervention it's weird how obsessed the right is with injected religion into society against its will

Jaguar Domingo he didn't say the answer was religion. he said it's part or the answer. he also said that science is part of the answer.

Jaguar Domingo that's a very low resolution, one dimensional perspective on religion. like many things humans make it's neither good nor bad/it's goodness or badness often hinges on what behaviors it's being used to rationalize. the right does like to inject religion into politics...a space in which, I think we both can agree, it doesn't belong. I'd go one further and say that many of the moralizations usually associated with the left don't belong there either. but Western society, as well as modern science, medicine (surely societal positives?)..books.. etc, would not exist, as we know them, with out the innovations of the early Christan Church or the myriad of decidedly religious societies that predated and informed it. idk, dude. would the field of mathematics look the same today, without the influence of medieval Islam? would libertarianism look the same without the influence of Thomas Aquinas? religion, like society, is more than the sum of it's parts and there seems scant evidence that we would have one without the other. Sooo... as for what's " wrecked the world"...I think that can be reduced, simply... to bad actors, religious and otherwise. speaking specifically about the specific actions taken by specific bad actors, seems like a more effective approach to extracting religion from politics, than laying blame on the natural (likely unavoidable) human tenancy toward religious thinking itself.
