Description

9-year old Omaree Varela’s lifeless, bruised, and tattered body was recovered at the base of toy bouncy horse just two days after Christmas in 2013.  His mother and stepfather claimed his death was the result of a freak accident while playing with his younger sibling.  However, the marks on Omaree’s body and a horrifying 22 minute 911 call just six months earlier paint a much more sinister picture of what really happened.

This is just absolutely heartbreaking. That poor boy, desperate for help, who didn't get any.

Ughh this shit makes me sick! What a dipshit cop to believe these (obviously fake ass) "parents". Of course they know what to say. A child has NO voice, NO choice, and NO help unless someone intervenes- which is exactly what the dispatcher did. She knows the fucking difference between a tiff and straight up abuse. He totally undermined her judgement and didn't even question the children separately! Was he about to be off work and about to hop on a plane for vacation or something?! He was lazy and seemed like he was trying to befriend the abusers, not to mention the dumb shit he said about being a man, strong, etc.

What a couple of vile ‘humans’. I hope this serves as a lesson to other police officers to be extra careful when dealing with situations like this. There’s protocol for a reason.

poor Omaree may he rest in heaven and may his sister find Justice. may the police department be responsible for the incompetence and laziness and failure to protect these children!

The 911 call was hard to hear. My concern is that, how will this abuse & death affect the other children growing up. As far as the officers, I'm 😡 😡 😡, obviously, the 911 operator felt Omaree was in dire need, otherwise, why would she suggest to the officer to hear the tape? This is one of the cases that pull at my heartstrings.

Marquita Leggett agreed. the 911 operator is the only person who reacted. and she knew they needed to hear the call but they didn't do shit.

when the police officer said yard work will make him " a man" I puked in my mouth a bit. Using the same words as the step dad. Sick.

Really dislike the host's attempts to guide/influence listener reactions. Might be worthwhile to consider presenting or exploring varied perspectives alongside his very explicitly and emotionally stated opinions.

Charlez Parker McHaley Where in this thread have I referred to my emotions or any sensitivity...? If anything, I am distancing myself from the host's sensitivity and inability to engage the subject matter with a critical analysis...

This one really affected me and made me cry for this poor boy. I dont understand how people can do this to children. Their own flesh and blood. RIP beautiful boy. I am so sorry you had to suffer.

well. I hope.this hunts those police officers for the rest of their life. That poor kid would have suffered after the officers left the home. smh. CHILD ABUSE SHOULD BE #1 PRIORITY. TEAR THE HOME DOWN FOR PROOF IF U HAVE TO. asking the parents questions doesn't make sense. of they will lie

Was expecting a bit more in terms of the content on this one. A tragic situation with only recordings used. You could have added testimony details from parties involved or deconstructed the reasons why police didn't listen and whether there were repercussions for them etc..

Cratsky I agree. Too much of the episode was audio either from the 911 call or from the officers visit to the home. The biggest issue though, is the incompetence of the two officers. I can't imagine that they are asked to frequently listen to 911 calls prior to arriving at a possible Crime scene if ever. The real kicker was that they let me everything slide even after hearing that the husband was an ex con and even after one of the officers recognized him from previous run ins with the law. May the young boy rest in peace.

Steve Lenhard It's called...constructive criticism. If you're creating content to share with an audience whose support drives the project, their feedback is at the very least warranted...if not very important. Otherwise content quality could decline, as would the amount of listeners.

Jekyll & Hyde motherfuckers. Bullies. Two-faced losers who used their children to make themselves feel bigger. They were more than likely abused like that as kids too. Violence and hate are cycles. I bet their parents are pieces of shit too, if they're not dead.
