Bio-Hacking for Goals with Ayurveda - 069
Ep. 069: Today we're going back to a topic that we've covered before: ayurveda, but whereas the last episode focused more on the health and wellness aspect of ayurveda, we're going to make it a little bit more applicable to today's world and learn how to use it to crush your goals.Ayurveda is the world's oldest holistic healing system developed over 3000 years ago in India, and it's based on the belief that health and wellness depend on the delicate balance between mind body and spirit. So really, everything is connected. In Sanskrit, Ayurveda means the science of life.Today we're learning how we can use ayurveda for living our purpose, actually following through on those goals, and overcoming some of the most common things that hold us back according to our different doshas, or our mind-body types.Today will be really fun because you'll be able to figure out what Dosha you are, and how it affects how you tackle your goals or interact with the world. Then how to use different principles of ayurveda to counterbalance excesses or a deficiencies.Today we're talking to Sahara Rose – the best selling author of Eat Feel Fresh and The Idiot's Guide to Ayurveda. Deepak Chopra called her "a leading voice for the millennial generation into a new paradigm shift". She loves to make spiritual and Ayurvedic wisdom fun and relatable so that it can actually serve the needs of people today.Today we will learn:How to identify your different DoshasHow our mind body types can be affected by age and even the climate we're living inFun, easy, modern ways to bring imbalances back into balanceSponsors:Four Sigmatic - Use code MINDLOVE for 15% off your purchaseTalkspace - Use code MINDLOVE for $45 off your first monthVistaprint - 500 custom cards for $9.99+Show Notes: https://mindlove.com/069Learn more about your ad choices. Releasing Shame - 068
Episode 068: Today, we’re talking about releasing shame. I think we all have something from our past that we’re not totally proud of. Maybe even something from our present. I have a ton. Part of it is that I have an addictive personality. So there have been so many periods in my life where my behaviors took on an energy of their own and I felt like I lost control.Todays episode has a lot of sensitive topics so if you have little ones around or you yourself are sensitive to topics like sex work and masturbation, I recommend you pick one of the many other episodes. But I feel this topic is much needed because there are a lot of common human things that we wrap in judgment and shame and I would like to be one of the people shining love on those topics to help release the collective shame. Today we talk to Sydney Campos. She is a fellow wild woman with a wild story, transcending 10 years of drug and alcohol abuse and sex work. Through truth and vulnerability, only a few years later, she was serving her souls mission healing and teaching around the world, signed a major book deal, and was leading retreats for visionary leaders eager to live in alignment with their highest soul self.We will learn:* The myth of mistakes* How we go into bad decision denial* How our shame (and releasing it) affects our collective consciousnessShow Notes: https://mindlove.com/068SPONSORS:* Policy Genius Learn more about your ad choices. Habits, Cravings and Practical Weight Loss - 063
Ep 063: Today’s episode is about a practical way to create new habits, and break old ones. We’re talking about weight loss… and I don’t love that word choice because I think we get too. Caught up on the scale, but I termed it that because I know that’s what a big portion of us, especially women these days are looking for.But as you’ll hear in this episode, the problem is rarely our knowledge on what is and is not good for us. It’s our mindsets around creating change, and our emotions and even hormones that tend to get in our way.And after my yoga incident this week, it’s the perfect time for me to bring a little more awareness to my own routines. Our guest today is Elizabeth Benton, the creator of Primal Potential. It wasn't that long ago that Elizabeth Benton was depressed, deeply in debt, and obese… over 350 pounds. Her deepest desire was to lose weight to get her life back. Even just to get around without losing her breath after a few steps.she realized that if what she wanted more than anything was to lose weight, why were so many of her actions sabotaging that goal. She started to change the way she approached her goal. Instead of learning more about how nutrition and different weight loss methods, first she needed to learn more about herself and what was driving her behaviors.Whether you struggle with your weight or you struggle with breaking some other bad habit. This episode is definitely a practical approach to habit change building healthy habits and taking control of your body and your life.Today we will learn:How learning can be a form of procrastinationHow our beliefs about ourselves shape our behaviorsA practical accessible way to start building better habitsShow Notes: mindlove.com/063Learn more about your ad choices. I'm gonna put it out there- I really enjoy this podcast. I'm a guy so it might seem weird to say I relate to some of these things but I definitely get a lot out of the lessons! You're easy to listen to and really believe in what you're saying but without sounding overly optimistic, like bordering on "you're definitely on something" lol. Thank you and keep it up!

One of my favorite parts of your podcast is that you don't have a 15-20 minute intro + ads like so many others in this genre seem to do! straight to the point and right into the good stuff, LOVE IT! ♥️

Have you touched on the psychology of "avoidance" ? ... Something that has come up more recently for me as a real problem I need to tackle. I think the issue goes back years and years ago, and I didnt think of it as an issue in the past. Until now, avoidance is something Ive realised IS a thing that needs to be slowly unlayered and understood deeply as to why I avoid or why did I just waste my time with something irrelevant? Why am I not getting stuff done when I know it's important and means a lot to me? I havent always been consious of my avoidance. I've always had that inside voice wondering what's wrong with me... And I've at times been called lazy when I actually feel like I'm stuck because of some form of anxiety.

Melissa!!! I've already expressed that I just love you, resonate with the way you speak, and have a lot of similar cornerstone growth experiences as you, but I had no idea until this episode that you were also raised in a strict religious house and had to go through abusive religious shunning too! You are the shit! I hope I get to meet you one day. 💚

Melissa, I looked in the show notes for the reference to the video you talked about on Amazon Prime. is the correct name of it Fabric in Time or was it called something else? By the way loved the show, political views included. Thanks again for all you do.

I usually LOVE this podcast, but I was very disappointed by some of the content of this show. Oneness means not judging others. For some reason some people exclude our president from this oneness. Some of the content of this show felt divisive IMO. I believe we can change the world only through spreading positive thoughts and doing our very best. This didn't feel good to me. I feel like you might want to consider that there are people who listen to your show who might support this country and the president.

Melissa Monte I think I didn't make it clear that I am not at all upset about differing views. That doesn't bother me at all. I'm a proponent of acceptance and tolerance for all sides. It's the way he presented his views. I guess I just didn't like that. I'm used to just loving all your episodes. But everything happens for a reason. ☺ Have a nice weekend.

Meroe Rabieifar Well so sorry it rubbed the wrong way! Never my intention. I interpreted the humanoid thing more like someone would say someone was a Taurus or a Pisces. To be fair... some people don’t vibe with my views on veganism either 😉

Melissa Monte I really appreciate that. I'm not sure what direction you're trying to go with a vegan guest, but I found Emily from Bite Size Vegan funny, informative and non-"militant". She's an activist.
