So, why have you just skipped over Elise leaving? Is she taking a break or has she left the show?

well ~that~ was dramatic! steve basically said ask me anything- except why mr. starbucks thinks a 70% tax on income over $10B is "ridiculous", and who the tax would negatively impact other than himself. sounded like he literally threw the mike and hit the door. wow. i would argue that it is ridiculous to assert that this tax would ~negatively~ impact anyone who exists on such a rarified and charmed plain of existence. at that level of money hoarding, the tax would have ZERO negative impact on the quality of the lives of these handful of people- that is utterly indisputable. it ~might~, however, negatively impact their ability to control the quality of the lives of a nation, and a planet. words do matter, and steve had none to defend or even explain schultz's position. this podcast has illuminated and informed on my position regarding schultz. thank you.

Nonya Bizness I watched an AMAZING interview with Bill Gates on the "Verge" where he explained that there is a much better way to get money from the super rich (including himself). He explained that the 70% tax would have several major flaws and that a better solution is to tax the "wealth" of the super rich. For example, their properties, vehicles, stocks and bonds, and money in various banks. Check it out. I have the utmost respect for Bill Gates and his wife.

I think the way Adam handled this interview was completely juvenile. Perhaps he can't hold a candle to Steve Schmidt intellectually so being antagonistic was his only option. Steve Schmidt is one of the clearer voices speaking truthfully about what is going on in politics and the Trump administration and I look forward to see where he goes with Howard Schultz and beyond. Sadly, I will not be tuning in to Words Matter any longer.

Well, lots of us won't be back after this display. Obviously neither of you (Elise or Adam) are prepared to interview Steve who may well be one of only 3 individuals astute enough to speak accurately to the current disastrous state of the state in which we find ourselves thanks to this administration. Elise may mean well but is clearly too simplistic and Adam is a jerk. As Steve said, this was BS

I'm posting this comment here because I don't know how else to communicate with Steve Schmidt. I have the utmost respect for you Mr. Schmidt, and always listen carefully to your thoughts and opinions. I hope Howard Schultz does as well, and that you will encourage him to run for President as Democrat, NOT an Independent, which would surely hand the 2020 election to Trump. My understanding is that he has been a lifelong Democrat, so it's unimaginable that he would put ego before country.

Steve Schmid you've admitted Palin was a mistake. Running Howard as an independent would be another.

Nice to hear Steve's thoughts on the current Democratic Primary field, as well as where he thinks we're headed in 2019. His analogy of driving drunk is quite on the money for our current state of affairs. Also, the MLK clips were beyond moving.

Glenn Gilliam well she's certainly got you scared that you have to resort to misogynistic name calling... and that's probably good... you apparently need to be afearing the power of grandmothers

I'm 64, almost 65. I guess I'm an ossified Republican. I struggled to l listen through this discussion. Nevertheless, I'm intrigued by what these individuals are saying, that there could be a way to get through, to retain many of the values I hold onto as superior, that is not under the umbrella of Republican.
